This is absolutely insane💥 OpenAI's new beta offering, SearchGPT, is bringing search results to a ChatGPT-like interface. This prototype is set to integrate into ChatGPT soon, and it's a game-changer.Why is this important?(SearchGPT is going after Google)Competitors like Bing might struggle to attract users. But by integrating a web search feature within OpenAI's ChatGPT, they might just have found the key.How do we know this is an attack on Google?OpenAI highlights pain points:1️⃣ Getting answers on the web often requires multiple attempts.2️⃣ Enhancing conversational capabilities with real-time web information makes finding what you need faster and easier.Examples include searching for music festivals in North Carolina. You get an overview with clickable links, making the process smoother. What’s cool?SearchGPT partners with publishers and creators🌟 This could lead to a new wave of SEO optimization. It’s a dramatic shift that might cut into Google’s search share.Let’s see how this plays out. Exciting times ahead!P.S. What are your thoughts on SearchGPT? OpenAI now truly enters the #onlinesearch arena, as Google faces new challenges🔎As most people around the world have yet to try ChatPGT, the digital marketing world is already buzzing with the next development from OpenAI, as it introduces a "web-search-feature" in ChatGPT, (similar to Perplexity). And in my eyes, as OpenAI is so well embeded in Microsoft products, it has the immediate potential of redefining the competitive landscape of search engines. This move isn't just about enhancing ChatGPT's capabilities; it's indicative of a huge shift in how search engines are evolving to meet user demands for more accurate, reliable, and richly contextual answers.OpenAI’s venture into search with cited sources and multimedia responses is a bold challenge to Google's dominance, echoing broader industry trends where alternative search engines are gaining ground. As highlighted by a recent article in Search Engine Journal, Google's market share is slipping as competitors like Perplexity and now OpenAI step up with innovations that prioritize high-quality search results and user-focused content (see comments for link to this article). For SEO professionals and digital marketers, this shift means adapting to a landscape where diversification is key. Strategies will need to evolve to account for multiple search engines' algorithms and ranking factors. The focus must be on creating informative, engaging, and trustworthy content that not only meets algorithmic criteria but also aligns with user expectations across different platforms. Here’s what we need to consider:1. How will OpenAI’s search capabilities influence the future of search engine optimization, and therefore the way how we treat #content? And let's be honest, the current strategies are all focused around #google2. What does the shift away from a single dominant search engine mean for your digital marketing strategies?I wonder if someone has already some experience, thoughts or useful experiments that people are able to share. Regardless, I would love to hear your thoughts: Mattheijs van Wijk, Pieter Ruers, Ralf van Lieshout, Bart Manders: are we indeed at the verge of a huge shift?Thijs van Dijk, Daniel Kok, Tijmen Willems, Robin Bach Kollinghttps://lnkd.in/ds2hpFAj

Google Bard seems to have some advantages for SEO research, i.e. whereas ChatGPT excels at concepts, Bard seems to be better connected to search data. This update may put Bard in the lead for tasks like search competitor research and content strategy. If I was just seeking to learn about our rankings and get some cluster ideas today, I would probably reach for Bard.ChatGPT is an amazing tool but their partnership with Bing created a limitation to the data you can access and analyze in planning content. You can workaround that by using a browser plugin but results are inconsistent and sometimes it fails altogether or forgets what the task was. With Bard you never experience that disconnect between data and what you're working on.For actual content writing ChatGPT's use of custom GPTs (writers that you can train to understand your brand and approach) is probably still a little bit better than Bard but with this Gemini update Google has cemented Bard's position in the creator toolkit as a nifty bit of kit that can really deliver some high value for any digital marketer. Highly recommend everyone give Bard a quick spin, it's evolved very rapidly into an amazing and vital SEO tool.Hashtags generated by Google Bard.#GeminiAI #BardAI #AIUpdate #NLPUpdate #MachineLearning #FutureOfWork

What do you get if you cross a billionaire, page one of Google and ChatGPT? 🤔Not a good punchline for a start. However, there is an interesting comparison here between wealth inequality and the future of SEO. Hear me out.💸 In the United States, the top 1% of the country's wealthiest hold as much wealth as the bottom 90% and the share they hold is growing.🥈 Now with SEO, we all know that if you're on page two of Google, you might as well not exist. But what if I told you that in the next few years, even page one won't be good enough?🐘 Cue ChatGPT. The digital elephant that is in everyone's office. At present, the free version of OpenAI's tool is limited to information it was trained on before September 2021. However, with a new update rolling out, or with the use of plugins like WebGPT, ChatGPT can now pull sources directly from internet searches. Here's the problem. This breaks SEO as we know it.🏆Ranking on page one simply won't be good enough any more if ChatGPT is pulling only the top 1-2 sources from web search. Much like the 0.1% in America, the websites that rank at the very top of searches will get a greater and greater proportion of overall traffic. 🤓What's the solution? Well, the starting pistol has been fired. Let's hope that the backlink warmup, special keyword diet, and meta description workouts pay off in the race to the finish line. What happens next is yet to emerge. For now lets just hope we get there first.🎵 Alexa, play Abba - Winner Takes It All----------------------------------------------------❓What are your thoughts on the AI-SEO parallel? How can we ensure AI benefits all, not just the emerging digital 1%?#SEO #AI #ChatGPT #OpenAI #WebGPT #Claude #Ranking #Google #Search

SearchGPT - the Google killer?OpenAI is testing this new, eagerly anticipated product, to compete directly with search giant Google. And could be a game change for us PPCers and SEOers.(By the way, Google's search business is worth $175bn a year!) 🤑So, probably natural that OpenAI want a piece of the pie..The challenge with AI-generated search so far is that chatbots are prone to responding inaccurately or muddling up facts, numbers and references. These are some of the highlights from what I've seen from the Microsoft backed business:✅ It'll not only allow you to search fast, but ask following up questions.✅ It'll also show clear, up-to-date information with links to the relevant source.✅ Visual responses in the form of image or video will appear when relevantAt current, it's only a temporary prototype with 10,000 users and publishers to test it out, but could be the start of something massive. And currently OpenAI claim they're using this product as a prototype, to push the best features into ChatGPT.So it's unclear as to the implication or plan for ads to be shown - but shows a clear intent by OpenAI to deliver a strong search engine. How far do you reckon OpenAI could go with this?Interested in giving it a go?You can dign up to the waitlist. 🚨OpenAI is building a Preferred Publisher Program. It is a big deal! 🚀 Why?It's now evident that OpenAi wants #ChatGPT to become as integral to our daily lives as Google or Instagram. But to achieve this, historical training data is not enough. It requires real-time data to ensure that responses are 100% accurate and useful in daily use contexts.Where to get real time information? 🤔 OpenAI is initiating negotiations with top publishers and media companies to incorporate their content into ChatGPT. For instance, it recently secured a deal with the Financial Times. In return for content, OpenAI will pay them either a fixed amount or a variable one depending on usage. More interestingly, it will also offer premium placements within the ChatGPT environment.Placements will take the form of links or citations, with their prominence and look varying based on the agreement, I guess. This is as if Google paid publishers to display their results! While publishers did attempt to profit from Google, the model proved unsuccessful. Instead, the #SEO industry was born!I believe that also OpenAI will eventually stop paying for content.Instead, it will develop a system similar to SEO where the best publishers will gain more visibility on ChatGPT.Of course, this will work only when and if ChatGPT will finally be part of our daily lives like Google is.👉 This is exactly what OpenAi is aiming for.It is especially clear if we look at the latest developments of GPT-4o, which acts as an everyday personal assistant. They even released a desktop app for Mac (not available for older models with Intel chips, like mine 😕 )#Ads are going to be the next step. After securing partnerships with publishers, it will target advertisers. People will soon pay to be on ChatGPT!OpenAI is growing up, from a tech darling to a real big tech!👋 Hey, I'm Giacomo Iotti! I post regularly about digital marketing, tech and eCommerce. OpenAI is directly competing with Google with their "SearchGPT" prototypeSearchGPT is a temporary prototype of new AI search features that give you fast and timely answers with clear and relevant sources. What makes this special?Think about how we use search engines now.↳ You type your question.↳ Scroll through the top links in Google until you find one that’s most relevant.↳ Click the link, and browse for the piece of information you really want.↳ If your inquiry is a bit complex, you may need to browse several websites until you find what you need, or in some cases, piece together information from different sources. This process is fine, but it’s not personalized or conversational and doesn’t allow for follow-up questions. On the other hand, the current gap with ChatGPT is that it can’t substitute search engines because it doesn’t have real-time browsing capabilities.SearchGPT should bridge the gap between ChatGPT & Google, bringing us the best of both worlds. As you may know, this matters greatly to businesses. As a business owner, you understand the importance of SEO for your website’s traffic. So, what happens when your audience's search behavior shifts dramatically? It will certainly bring some challenges and opportunities. Businesses must adapt to these changes to stay relevant and competitive. How do you think SearchGPT will impact digital marketing strategies?
